Red Wings practice update: Datsyuk, Cleary likely to return; Stuart chews on Kostopoulos suspension
Monday, January 31st, 2011Updated at 7:58 PM: The Red Wings received good news on several fronts at today’s practice as Pavel Datsyuk and Dan Cleary apparently skated at full speed, and Mike Modano provided a revised and more optimistic prognosis regarding his return from a torn tendon in his right wrist, but Tomas Holmstrom didn’t skate with the team, and Brad Stuart returned sporting a jaw guard and elastic bands attached to wiring stabilizing his still-healing broken jaw. Stuart was happy to get back to work after spending the past two weeks in San Jose, as he told MLive’s Ansar Khan…
Afternoon Line
Monday, January 31st, 2011“He still has some symptoms. It hasn’t totally disappeared. We’ll let the medical people deal with him when he gets back. Hopefully for his sake, not the team’s sake, but more for his sake that he gets better.
“It’s important for the individual here that he takes care of himself. The organization, medical staff, upper management and everybody has always done the right thing as far as that’s concerned, and that won’t change.”

Mid-afternoon Red Wings tidbits
Monday, January 31st, 2011Of brief Red Wings-related note this afternoon:
• As TMR is headed on the road to ferry TMR’s mom on the road this afternoon (ahead of Snowmageddon), WJBK’s Jennifer Hammond provides an interim Wings practice update via a pair of tweets:
Always good to see datsyuk, Stuart, cleary and Modano back on the practice ice for the Wings.

We’ll find out whether Stuart’s wearing a full cage later this afternoon. He and Modano remain a month away, give or take a week or three, from returning to the lineup.
NHL’s Red Wings guardian stops…car thieves with guns
Monday, January 31st, 2011The NHL’s “Guardian Project” shouldn’t make me cringe, at least in theory.
